Abstract: We discuss novel applications of interacting particle systems in the context of socio-economic applications and reveal their port-Hamiltonian structure, which can be used to study their long-time behaviour. Moreover, we discuss some results of optimal control of interacting particle systems. The theory will be underpinned by numerical simulation results.
